January - Good Judgment

Think before you act; Make good choices – think about consequences; Use time wisely; Make thoughtful decisions; Set high goals and expectations for yourself

Here are some ideas on what you can do at home with your child involving the character trait good judgment.

  • Help your child to set attainable academic goals for the year.  Keep track of the goals on a chart.
  • Talk to your child about internet safety and how they need to use good judgment when postings things.
  • Talk to your child about safety with strangers.
  • Give your child scenarios, then talk with them about how to make those choices better by using good judgment and what steps they could take.

o   Your friend took the game you were playing with.   You are upset.  What do you do to get it back?

o   Your brother broke your favorite toy.  What do you do?

o   Your friend came over and made your very clean room a mess.   How do you deal with this problem?

Read a story that relates to good judgment and discuss how the character showed good judgment.
